A SANParks delegation is attending the fourth World Environmental Education Congress which began on the 3 July 2007. This is the first time that Africa has hosted the congress, which brings together researchers, practitioners, and policy makers from the fields of education and environment.
The congress is themed “Learning in a Challenging World” and those participating will present papers on their research in these fields. Other issues will be explored within the context of education and environment, including globalisation, culture, internationalisation, environmental learning, sustainable schools, curriculum changes, ecological integrity, social justice and socio-ecological change.
SANParks is a major sponsor of this event, and is exhibiting how the organisation is contributing to a brighter environmental education future.
People and Conservation within SANParks prioritise environmental education by running a number of initiatives designed to teach children about the environment, eco- friendly behavior, and a sustainable future.
